In an important development for owners and administrators of preschools, childcare centers and adult day care centers nationwide, the USDA has significantly increased reimbursement rates for CACFP qualified breakfasts, lunches and snacks.
The published increases include the 12-month temporary funding of an additional 10 cents per meal and snack provided by the Keep Kids Fed Act of 2022 - on top of CACFP increases. This means that lunch reimbursement, for example, may increase as much as 41 cents, depending on your type of center and location.
At a time when many centers are struggling with the dual impacts of inflation and a tight labor market, these increases are sure to bring much-needed relief.
It's a win for childhood nutrition as well. Millions of children get access to healthy meals and snacks through CACFP in centers just like yours, and we salute your commitment to providing the healthy and nutritious meals that fuel the strong bodies and minds that will shape America's future.
As we talk with owners and administrators of preschools and childcare centers, we have become aware that news of these increases has not reached many of you. You can download the Federal Registry Document with the updated reimbursement rates by clicking on the button below.
